How Long Can Engineered Wood Last?

Whether you are installing flooring for your home or office, it is basic to understand some common sense about the flooring you are buying. There are many types of flooring, including engineered wood flooring, laminate wood flooring and composite wood flooring. Each floor has its own characteristics, and which one to choose depends on factors such as its quality and price.

Although many people like solid wood hardwood flooring, in some cases it is not always the most ideal flooring choice, which is why many people choose engineered wood flooring.

The solid wood composite floor is made of interlaced laminates of different tree species, which overcomes the shortcomings of the solid wood floor of wet expansion and shrinkage to a certain extent. Engineered wood flooring combines the stability of laminate flooring with the aesthetics of solid wood flooring, and it has environmental advantages. Parquet engineered wood flooring is a new floor decoration material, divided into three-layer solid wood composite flooring and multi-layer solid wood composite flooring. The three-layer solid wood composite floor originated in Europe and the multi-layer solid wood composite floor originated in Asia.

The Duration of the Engineered Floor

Well-designed engineered flooring is very durable and can last for decades (30 years under appropriate conditions).

Engineered flooring consists of multiple core parts of plywood, high-density fiberboard or cork, and is covered with a beautiful layer of hardwood.

High-grade engineered hardwood flooring should use high-grade UV matt paint. This paint is cured by ultraviolet light and has very good wear resistance. Generally, household use does not need to be waxed for maintenance, and it does not need to be painted for more than ten years. Another key indicator is the matt degree. The brightness of the floor should first be soft, elegant and non-stimulating to the vision.

Engineering Wood Maintenance

Engineered wood flooring is divided into three layers: table, core and bottom. The surface layer is a wear-resistant layer, and a variety with hard texture and beautiful texture should be selected. The core layer and the bottom layer are balanced buffer layers, which should be soft and elastic. But the most critical point is that the types of the bottom layer of the core layer should be the same, otherwise it is difficult to ensure the stability of the structure of the floor.

The humidity in the room should not be too high. Keep the floor dry and clean. Use a wrung cotton mop for daily cleaning. In case of stubborn stains, wipe with a neutral cleaning solvent and then wipe with a wrung cotton mop. Do not use acid, alkaline solvents or organic solvents such as gasoline.

After laying the manufactured hardwood flooring, it must be placed for at least 24 hours before use, otherwise it will affect its use effect. General homebase engineered wood flooring has poor water resistance, so it is not suitable to wipe it with a damp cloth or water to avoid losing its luster. In daily life in the future, solid wood composite flooring must be maintained.

What Happens If the Engineering Floor Is Scratched?

Durable engineered floors are still scratched sometimes. But high-quality engineered flooring can be polished and repaired more than once. Preferably the engineered floor is equipped with a wear-resistant layer of at least 4 mm thick, which is sanded and polished at least four to five times during its lifespan.
