The method to install engineered wood floor

There are many ways to install best engineered wood flooring, and different methods have different advantages and disadvantages. Before deciding which method to use, you should have some understanding of different installation methods. Most engineering wood floors are built with tongues and grooves. In this way, wooden boards can be spliced together like jigsaw puzzles, which can prevent the movement of luxury engineered wood flooring and keep them horizontal. Tongue and groove milling is versatile, allowing the floors to be stapled or nailed down, glued, and sometimes floated.

Staple/Nail down

This is the most ideal installation method. If you use this method, you need to have a wooden or plywood subfloor, so that you can nail the walnut engineered wood flooring on it. Concrete or other hard subfloor materials cannot use nails, so it is not suitable to use this method. Nail installation can also provide you with the best appearance, because the wood board and nails are tightly nailed together, which can present the best appearance.

If your living environment is humid or very dry, you can also use glue or nails to fix it on the sub-floor, which can reduce the movement of wooden boards. The advantage of this method is that the installation speed is faster, and the frame is tight, which is very suitable for large-area installation. The disadvantage of this installation method is that best rated engineered wood flooring may move or change with the change of temperature and humidity, and some wide wooden boards still need to be glued. Of course, you can also add a sound insulation pad between your floors to reduce noise.

Glue down

If your home is a concrete sub-floor, the best choice is to stick the gray engineered hardwood firmly with glue, which will carry out large-scale continuous installation with few transition pieces. If the floor is stuck firmly under very dry or wet conditions, it will greatly limit the expansion and contraction of the floor. Maybe you will worry about the smell of the adhesive or some exhaust problems, which happened in the adhesive many years ago. However, modern adhesives are almost all low VOC or no VOC, and have almost no aftertaste.

Generally speaking, using glue installation to install reclaimed engineered wood flooring requires more skills and experience than nail installation, and when choosing adhesives, it is also necessary to choose strong adhesives with moisture resistance and sound insulation ability. The advantage of this method to install maple engineered flooring is that it can minimize noise, and it can be installed in a large area without transition pieces. The disadvantage is that professional installers are needed. This method is very troublesome for inexperienced installers, and the adhesive may be expensive.

Floating

Many tongue and groove floors can float on high-quality cushion. Before choosing to lay distressed engineered hardwood flooring, the following aspects should be considered. The hardwood floors will naturally expand and contract with the changes of temperature and humidity. When the floor floats, it will move, expand and contract as a whole, so the dark engineered wood flooring cannot be pressed by cabinets and other furniture, which will hinder the normal movement of the floor.

Floating installation is very difficult because it is not fixed to the subfloor. The advantage of this installation method is that it allows you to install on the existing floor without dismantling the old light engineered wood flooring, and it also allows you to directly transition from wood to concrete. The disadvantage of this installation method is that it needs frequent conversion, and there will be some other problems due to the movement of the floor.
